Schools with 250 or more employees have a target to employ an average of at least 2.3% of their staff as new apprentice starts over the period of 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2021, and are additionally required to provide information to help the government, public and wider stakeholders understand the progress they are making towards meeting this target. The following information demonstrates that as a Trust we have actively considered apprenticeships either for new positions or as part of career development for existing staff.
The Trust has been unable to meet the target of 2.3% due to dealing with restrictions and amendments to working practices that were put in place to work through the Covid pandemic.
The percentage of new starters in the Trust who were apprentices in the last year was 1.79%
Planning to meet the target in future includes:
- Working with local training providers to attract suitable apprentices
- Extending the advertising timescales in the hope of attracting more apprentices
- Encouraging the Trust's current apprentices to continue with the next level of their apprenticeship
- As vacancies arise within the Trust, considering if the role is suitable for an apprenticeship.
