Health & Safety Adviser (Trust-wide)
Grade H SCP 14 – 17 (£14,559 - £15,289 actual salary) 21 hours per week – term time only + 6 days. (Working hours/days to be negotiated)
Horizons Specialist Academy Trust is a specialist multi-academy trust and comprises of eight Academies and one Sixth Form across the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire area serving a population in excess of 1000 students with a broad range of learning difficulties.
We are looking to appoint a Trust-wide Health & Safety Adviser to work closely alongside our Premises Team. The successful candidate will work across all sites and therefore it is essential that the post holder has access to their own transport. A NEBOSH qualification (National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health) is essential for this role. Previous school experience is not essential.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Under the Direction of the Head of Estates and IT, carry out workplace audits or inspections, to identify and recognise good practice or any shortfall in health and safety standards or safe working practices. Report audit/inspection findings to Managers with prioritised recommendations for remedial action.
· To contribute to the development of advice and guidance to support services in their management of workplace health and safety risks.
· To provide advice and support to managers in responding to accident and incident investigation and RIDDOR reportable, or other loss events.
· To provide a professional advisory service embracing all areas of health and safety risk management including policy development, risk assessment methodology, workplace inspection and audits, investigating, recording and reporting of accidents, dangerous occurrences or near misses.
· To prepare and collate data for periodic reports.
· To maintain competence in a rapidly changing legislative environment by continuous personal professional development.
The successful candidate will be someone who is keen to maintain high standards, collaborating and sharing good practice throughout the Trust and has the ability to use their own initiative with regard to prioritising workloads and recognising areas that require attention.
